At planning stages, being lighter and more scalable than what had gone before it was decided to build a 'self-launch' facility into the craft from the get-go. This might enable it to be kept landside prior deployment, and levitated into 'surface-effect' whenever sea states allowed. This can be achieved with fixed installations in a LIFT + CRUISE configuration, or else using only four power units with those at the rear being vectored.
